Notarize United States documents at the US Embassy in Chile

To notarize a document at the United States Embassy in Chile , it is important to schedule an appointment in advance. This is because most embassies operate on a strict schedule and may not have availability for walk-ins or last-minute requests. It is advisable to plan ahead and book an appointment to ensure that the notarization process goes smoothly. However, if the document that requires notarization is time-sensitive and waiting for an embassy appointment is not feasible, then it may be faster to opt for an online notarization or remote ink notarization service. These services allow for the notarization to be completed remotely and can be scheduled quickly to accommodate urgent requests.

Consular officials at any U.S. embassy or consulate abroad can provide a service similar to the functions of a notary public in the United States. It is also possible to have a document notarized by a local foreign notary or local government official and then have the document authenticated by a U.S. consular officer.

They do not type out or produce any documents nor do they have any kind of templates. You must bring the document already prepared and we only perform the notarization.

They cannot provide any legal advice about the document or about its presentation. You must obtain all that information from the requesting party in the U.S. or your legal advisor before coming to the Embassy and provide clear instructions about the service to the consular staff that assists you.

Please note that if the document requires one or more witnesses to your signature, you must provide the witnesses, who must accompany you to the Embassy on the day of your appointment. Their U.S. Citizens Services staff cannot act as witnesses.

Failure to comply in going prepared to your appointment may cause significant delays in our service, and if the document is not notarized appropriately for failure to provide clear instructions, the fee isn’t refundable.

Each notary service has a cost of US$50.00 per signature and notarial stamp. Consular fees may be paid in cash (dollars or Chilean pesos) or by credit card. Payments by check or debit card (Redcompra) are not accepted.
